Installing the Visual Studio plug-in

To install the Klocwork plug-in for Visual Studio:

  1. From Support Downloads, download the applicable Klocwork Desktop tools package (kw-desktop-tools.<version>.<platform>.zip).

    Log in to the site using your Rogue Wave Support Center user ID and password. If you do not currently have a Rogue Wave Support Center user ID and password, register as a new user. Active maintenance is required to access this page.

    You can download the zip package directly from the Downloads section in the Validate Portal if your administrator has deployed the desktop analysis plug-ins. See Downloading and deploying the desktop analysis plug-ins for more information.
  2. Once downloaded, unzip the Klocwork Desktop tools package to your preferred location.
  3. Open the unzipped Klocwork Desktop tools package. If you are using:
    • Visual Studio 2015, 2017, or 2019, right-click the VSIX installer kw-vsplugin.win64.vsix and click Open with Visual Studio.
    • Visual Studio 2022, right-click the VSIX installer kw-vsplugin.vs2022.win64.vsix and click Open with Visual Studio.
  4. In the VSIX Installer window, click Install.
  5. Once the installation has completed, click Close.

The next time you open Visual Studio, the Klocwork plug-in will appear in the top ribbon under Extensions.
