Enabling secure passwords

Starting release 2024.2, you can choose to enable or disable the secure password policy in Validate.

When enabled, passwords must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 8 characters

  • At least one uppercase letter

  • At least one lowercase letter

  • At least one number

  • At least one special character (such as !, @, # or $)

To enable or disabled secure password policy, navigate to the Users tab in Validate and toggle the Secure password policy enabled/disabled button.

The following limitations apply:

  • Only users with the "Projects root admin" role have the permission to change this property.

  • If you migrate an existing projects_root from release 2024.1 or older, the secure password policy is disabled by default.

  • If you install a new Validate Server or create a new projects_root (2024.2 or newer), the secure password policy is enabled by default.

  • Existing passwords are not affected.
